Privacy Policy

Seasons is a personal TV journal. Your library — what you track, your ratings, notes and watch history — stays private to you. Seasons also has an optional community where you can post about what you're watching. Nothing about the community is collected unless you sign in to it, and your private library is only shared if you turn sharing on.

In short

• Without the community, Seasons collects nothing about you. Your library lives on your device and in your own private iCloud account.
• If you sign in to the community, Seasons stores an account, the display name you choose, and what you post, on a server run for the app.
• If you also turn on activity sharing, the seasons you're watching, finished or dropped, and your ratings of them, are shared with the community. Notes, dates and episodes are never shared.
• There is no advertising, no tracking and no analytics. No data is sold or used to profile you, and no identifier for advertisers (IDFA) is requested.
• You can delete your community account, and everything attached to it, from inside the app at any time.

Your library

Everything you create — the shows you track, season states, ratings, notes, watch dates and log history — is stored on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework, and synced to your own private iCloud account so it survives a new or reset iPhone. Two preferences (your backfill-mode toggle and, if you set one, a TMDB access token) are stored in the app's own local settings and are not synced.

The developer cannot see anything in your iCloud library. It lives in the private database of your Apple Account, in a CloudKit container the developer can inspect the structure of but never the contents.

Sync uses whatever Apple Account is signed in to the device. If you are not signed in to iCloud, or you turn iCloud off for Seasons in iOS Settings, the app keeps working and stores everything locally instead.

To delete your library: erasing it inside Seasons (Settings → Library → Erase everything) removes it from this device and from iCloud, on every device signed in to your Apple Account. Deleting the app alone removes the local copy but leaves the iCloud copy in place, so reinstalling restores it; to remove that copy too, use iOS Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → Seasons.

Data stored in your own private iCloud database is governed by Apple's privacy policy, not by any service of the developer's.

The community

The community is optional. Anyone can read it without an account; posting, voting, following and sharing need you to sign in.

What is stored when you sign in

• An account identifier, created when you sign in with Apple or Google. With Apple, Seasons asks for neither your name nor your email address. With Google, your Google email address is passed to the sign-in service and stored with your account; it is never shown to other people.
• Your display name, which you choose, and which other people see next to everything you post.
• What you post: posts, comments, thread titles, the seasons you attach to them, how far into a season you say you are, and any rating you add.
• Votes, follows and blocks you make, and reports you send.

Activity sharing

Activity sharing is off until you turn it on. When it is on, Seasons shares, for each season in your library: whether you're watching, finished or dropped it, your rating, and when you rated it. Seasons on your watchlist, and your notes, watch dates and episode progress, are never shared.

Turning sharing off deletes everything shared, from the server, straight away.

Who can see what

• Anyone using Seasons, signed in or not, can see your display name, your posts and comments, the people you follow and who follows you, and — if you turned sharing on — your shared seasons and ratings. Shared ratings also count toward each season's community average.
• Votes are added to a post's score; who voted is not shown.
• Blocks are visible only to you. Reports are visible only to the developer, for moderation.

Moderation

Posts are checked against a list of prohibited terms before they're published. Posts that break the community rules can be hidden or removed, and accounts that repeatedly break them can be banned. A post reported by three different people is hidden automatically until it is reviewed.

Where it's stored

Community data is stored by Supabase, which hosts the app's database and handles sign-in (Supabase's privacy policy). As with any web request, the server sees the IP address a request comes from. Signing in with Google is also handled by Google (Google's privacy policy).

Keeping and deleting it

Community data is kept until you delete your account. A post you delete is hidden from everyone immediately; its text is kept on the server, where only the developer can see it, so reports about it can still be reviewed, and it is erased when you delete your account.

To delete your account: Settings → Community → Delete account. This permanently removes your account, display name, posts, comments, votes, follows, blocks, reports and shared activity. Your private library is not affected.

You can also ask for a copy of your community data, or for it to be corrected or deleted, by writing to the address below.

Network requests

Seasons fetches show and season information from The Movie Database (TMDB):

• api.themoviedb.org — searching for shows, and fetching show and season details for titles you add or refresh.
• image.tmdb.org — poster images.

These requests contain only what is needed to answer them: your search text, or the ID of a show. They do not contain any account identifier, device identifier, or anything about your ratings, notes or viewing history.

TMDB receives these requests and, as with any web request, will see the originating IP address. TMDB's handling of that is governed by their own privacy policy.

The community's requests go to Supabase, as described above.

Children

Seasons is not directed at children, and the community is not intended for anyone under 13. If you believe a child has created a community account, write to the address below and it will be deleted.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this address and the date above revised.
